Case Study - SR15
First Task Recruitment partnered with several Sub Contractors contracted to ESD, a joint venture of Galliford Try, MWH Treatment and Black & Veatch, the non-infrastructure alliance, to provide skilled construction workers for the SR15 Scottish Water Programme which delivered over 150 projects for Scottish Water. The programme commenced in 2015. First Task played a vital role in providing quality workers for sites all over Scotland.
With over 150 projects throughout Scotland, its major challenge was providing quality labour over a large area. Many of the sites being in rural locations made it more of a challenge to source local, skilled operatives. In addition, with the projects being for Scottish Water sites required a variety of specific tickets which reduced the number of suitable candidates.
First Task successfully overcame this by sourcing candidates in a difficult market, through using its extensive candidate database of tried and tested operatives, networked through our talent pools and headhunting. Emphasizing on the long-term duration, good working conditions and site management also helped to entice and retain the best candidates. The team then carried out First Task’s detailed vetting process, which includes CV reviews, phone and face-to-face interviews, compliance and skills checks, as well as a thorough employer reference check.
First Task was effective in providing the clients with the essential number of workers to help complete the various projects. By focusing on selecting the right operatives for the roles and retaining these quality candidates helped greatly in achieving this. Meanwhile, First Task’s internal processes and procedures helped make sure the temporary workforce was compliant with health & safety, immigration and employment legislation.
